The International Ceramics Prize 2020 of the World Academy of Ceramics has been awarded during the Inaugural Session of the 15th International Ceramics Congress of CIMTEC 2022 in Perugia, Italy, on June 21, 2022. The recipients of the WAC Prize 2020 were Prof. Ralf Riedel from Darmstadt University, Germany, "For his pioneering contributions in the development of oxide and non-oxide materials, polymer derived ceramics, high pressure materials synthesis, and materials for energy storage", and Prof. Michel Barsoum and Prof. Yuri Gogotsi from Drexel University, "For their seminal contributions in the development and characterization of MAX phase ceramics and MXene layered materials for a broad range of applications".
