The Formal Induction Ceremony of the new Professional Members (Academicians) of the World Academy of Ceramics took place, as planned, on the occasion of the Inaugural Session of CIMTEC 2018.

The Session chaired by Mrityunjay Singh took place in the Auditorium of the "Centro Congressi Quattrotorri" of Perugia on June 5 morning where many hundreds of CIMTEC delegates representing over fifty countries were attending.

After a welcome by Gary Messing, President of WAC Advisory Board, Tatsuki Ohji, President of WAC Nomination Committee 2017-2018, briefly introduced the sixteen (out of the twenty) Academicians selected on occasion of the 17th Election to WAC, including:

The new Academicians received the WAC diplomas from Tatsuki Ohji and Gary Messing.
The other four new Academy Members selected at the 17th Election for the Class "Science", i.e. Kazumi Kato, Japan, Alexandra Navrotsky, USA, Zhijian Shen, Sweden, Eric D. Wachsman, USA, addressed their deep apologies for not being able to attend.
