1. Recognized personal contribution to new knowledge in ceramic theory and practice including significant contribution to the literature on ceramics. 2. Important personal actions directed toward fostering a better understanding of the social interactions of ceramics science, technology, history and art and/or strengthening the cultural ties within the international ceramics community. Effectiveness and efficiency in leadership of organizations that have made noteworthy contribution in the field of ceramics education and/or conducted pioneering work or complex programs in developing fields of ceramics research and practice are weighted as supplementing the primary qualifications outlined under points 1 and 2. Elections to the World Academy of Ceramics are held on a regular basis. Maximum number of Academicians is presently limited to about 300. Only Professional Members of WAC may act as Nominators or References. A minimum of two References for each nomination are requested. The Membership Committee is responsible for preparing a ranking list based on personal achievements of the candidates to present to the Advisory Board whose evaluation will also consider international distribution as well as specialty distribution deemed most suitable for accomplishing the aims of the Academy. Official appointment is matter of WAC Council. The pool of Charter Members was appointed directly by WAC Council. |
